APEX 2020 results announced!

Results are in for APEX 2020! Please see the Announcing the Winners page for more information.

How and when will I find out if I won an award?
All entrants will receive a list of winning entries by the end of July. APEX Award winners will be listed in a special Awards Report. Grand Award winners will receive attractive plaques commemorating their winning entries. Award of Excellence winners will receive attractive certificates describing their winning entries, suitable for framing.

APEX Award winners may display the APEX logo in their publications, social media, and on their web and intranet sites.

Can I order more award certificates?
Yes. Winning entrants/organizations may order additional Award certificates and plaques online for co-workers, supporting vendors and clients. Certificate orders must be placed online. They cannot be phoned or mailed in.

When you use the online Additional Certificate Order Form, you have the option of attaching a photo jpg of your original certificate, marked up with changes. This is not required but sometimes makes it easier to visualize the requested certificate.

If I win an APEX award, can I display the APEX logo in my winning publication or website?
Yes. All APEX Award winners receive "APEX WINNER" Logo Repro Sheets for use in their own publications. Electronic versions of the APEX logo (EPS and GIF) also may be downloaded by APEX Award winners. APEX Award winners may link to ApexAwards.com.

APEX Judging
What are the judging criteria?

APEX awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry -- in the opinion of the judges -- in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.

Who are the judges?
The panel of judges includes John De Lellis, Concepts Editor & Publisher; Kenneth J. Turtoro, APEX Executive Editor and noted publishing and marketing executive with management stints at Elsevier, Penton Publishing, Medical Economics, Chemical Week Associates, Lebhar-Friedman and Reed (Cahners) Travel Group, among others; Christine Turner, Contributing Editor of Writer's Web Watch and Writing That Works; and Bill Londino, Consulting Editor of Writer's Web Watch.

APEX Eligibility
Do I need expensive publications to win an APEX award?

Not at all. Obviously, the judges see some impressive entries produced at great cost. But we also enjoy reading modestly-funded publications that showcase imaginative strategies and creative, effective communication. They also win APEX awards.

Can I enter APEX even if I'm a non-subscriber?
Yes! You do not have to subscribe to our e-newsletter, Writer's Web Watch, to enter APEX.

SWE, Magazine of the Society of Women Engineers -- Anne Perusek, Society of Women Engineers, Cleveland Heights, OH ... "This is one print magazine that feels good in the hand. Nice heft, and a very readable, matte paper stock. Cogent, well researched and well written features display a subtlety and depth of coverage you don't always find in association periodicals. Clearly, some competent folks are editing this one. And all that solid content is nicely displayed, from the striking contents page to the very attractive and readable layout. Illustration, photography and type are first class throughout."
